This year we will journey back in time to the ancient world.  Topics covered in this course include:  timelines, early humans, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, Greece and Rome.

The Keys to Succes in Social Studies:

Be Prepared:  Bring all materials to class each day, including a pen or pencil and your agenda book.  Homework will be assigned - part of being prepared is coming to class with your homework complete. 

Be Respectful & Kind:  Show respect for your classmates and teacher at all times.  A large part of class will be based on academic discussions and sharing.  Be supportive and encouraging of each other.  We are all on the same team! 

Participate:  There will be many opportunities for you to participate daily.  Participation includes active listening, volunteering, and thoughtfully completing assignments, partner discussions, group activities, etc.  The best way for you to learn is to be an active participant!

Try:  I set high expectations and challenge you to be better historians.  Try, try, try your best!  We all make mistakes and that is OKAY!  We learn from making mistakes.

Ask:  If you do not understand something, don't be afraid to ask.  Asking questions is a great way to learn.  You may also attend extra help sessions after school.
