Welcome to Mr. Shute's Website

Wellness is reaching your best social, intellectual, and physical level of health

In keeping with our goals of developing life long learners and aligning with the Massachusetts Physical Education Frameworks our portion of the Wellness Program focuses on the importance of the total health picture.  Along with the Health curriculum, the students in Physical Education will learn the importance that good physical, intellectual, social, and emotional health play a role in leading healthy, happy and productive lives. These disciplines will encourage the students to make positive choices and take steps to improve their current health, prevent future health problems, and accept responsibility for their own health during middle school and beyond.

Changing Policy
All students are required to change into athletic clothing for hygienic and movement purposes.  They may wear clothing such as sweatpants or shorts and t-shirts or sweatshirts that were not worn to school that day.  Students must wear sneakers. Students need to bring their PE clothes with them to and from class daily, as locks will not be issued. Please discourage children from bringing valuables (ipods, cellphones, jewelry, etc.) to class. If students have valuables that need to be safely stored, they can give them to a PE teacher to put in a lock box.

Curriculum
Please see the documents under related files for our grades 5-8 curriculum, as well as other pertinent information.
