Classroom Expectations Name______________________________________ Homework Buddy___________________________Phone_____________ Grade 7 / 8 Spanish - Welcome to Spanish Class! Sra. McGinty Sra. Shuster Sra. Sletzinger Aula 219 Aula 124B Aula 217 Class Content: This class is based on the 4 language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Practicing vocabulary, presenting skits, and reading from the text are all part of your participation in class. The topics we will cover are all arranged by themes. In seventh grade, these themes include likes and dislikes, school, sports and activities, and nutrition. In eighth grade these themes include family, meals, your bedroom and home, clothing, shopping and vacations. Materials: • 3 ring binder • Notebook paper – Please supply your own paper • Dividers— para empezar (warm-ups), vocabulario, apuntes (notes), tarea (homework) • Spanish-English Dictionary (optional) • Agenda Book (Grade 7) • Pencils with erasers • Textbook “Realidades” will remain in the classroom. You may sign one out if you need extra help. • You will also receive one Practice Workbook and one Writing, Audio, & Video Workbook (2 thin workbooks). These are yours to keep. You will use the same workbooks in grade 8. Expectations: You are expected to come to class on time and fully prepared with your materials. There is a warm-up on the board every day and you will often be graded on them (there is a time limit on these—you cannot finish these and get credit after we have started to go over them). You are to get started on the warm-up as soon as you arrive. Please be sure you always have a pencil, your notebook, workbooks and your assignments every day. Conduct: You are responsible for your actions and you are expected to show respect in the classroom. The behavior/technology rubrics will be followed at all times. Homework (Tarea): Homework is given to reinforce work done in class and generally takes no more than fifteen minutes. No credit is given for homework completed during class time. IN ADDITION TO WRITTEN HOMEWORK, IT IS EXPECTED THAT YOU WILL STUDY VOCABULARY and/or GRAMMAR FOR 5-10 MINUTES PER NIGHT-even if there is no written work. There is no credit for late homework. If you are out due to illness, you have one week to make up the work. Failure to make up a test will result in an “F”. Internet Your textbook, Realidades, is available online. That means that you can access the chapter we are studying, do practice activities online, print out homework sheets, hear the vocabulary, and even watch the videos. You will be given information about how to log on to the website within the next two weeks. You can also go to www.phschool.com for practices exercises. Click on the purple Realidades book.
