Textbook:
Each student will be loaned the textbook, World Explorer: People, Places, and Culture, for the year to be kept at home.  It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the book covered at all times and in good condition. It will be collected at the end of the school year.  Should you lose or damage your textbook, you will be held financially responsible.

Honesty Policy:
I want to establish a trusting and honest relationship with each of my students. I trust that students in my classroom will turn in homework, assignments, tests, and so on that represent their own work-product entirely, work that is neither plagiarized nor copied from another student or any other source. It is important that every student takes ownership in his/her work, and makes his/her best effort. If any student breaks this trust, he/she will receive a 0 or other serious reductions on the assignment. I have no tolerance for plagiarism and cheating, which are considered major violations of school policy and can result in possible suspension.

Grades:

Graded work will include:
1.      Graded Maps
2.      Tests
3.      Quizzes
4.      Research Projects
5.      Homework
6.      Current Events Reports
7.      Written Assignments
8.      Pop Quizzes
9.      Materials/Binder Checks
10.     Group Projects

Homework:
It is expected that all homework will be turned in on the assigned due date.  For most homework assignments, you will receive a score that reflects your effort.  You are expected to make up all missed assignments due to absence from class. Homework passed in after a due date will not
receive full credit, unless it is due to an absence or extenuating circumstances.  Please speak to
me in advance if you anticipate any problems completing the homework by the expected due date.
If you have missed extended time in school, you need to check in with me to arrange for any necessary after-school help and possible make-up work due dates.

Missed Tests and Quizzes:

It is a student’s responsibility to check in with me right away if a chapter test, quiz, or other project was missed due to absence. Reasonable, timely make-ups for these are important. Should a student delay in arranging for a make-up with me, it may be determined that it is too late because we have moved on to  a new area of study.
Should you have any questions, or if you are unsure about any of my classroom policies, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.  Again, I look forward to a wonderful year ahead as we “travel the world” together!
Thank you.
